Core Aspects of Extraordinary Living:

As we go along, we’ll explore five areas that arise time and time again when it comes to living a happy, purposeful, meaningful, and extraordinary life, and how we can make wise choices in each of them.
(For a deeper exploration of extraordinary living, check out this post.)

Health and Wellness

Our body is the vessel through which we experience life. It only makes sense to take care of it. We do this through cultivating a healthy lifestyle–through making conscious choices about the food we eat, the products we use, and the way we strengthen our bodies.

Self Discovery and Development

Why is it important to get to know yourself? Simply put, the more you learn about yourself, the better choices you can make. The more self-aware you become, the more you understand your strengths and how to leverage them. Rather than making excuses about your personality, or worse, blaming others, you can make conscious choices about how to act in the moment.

Connections and Relationships

At our core, humans are social beings. Sure we can live alone, but we thrive on our connections and relationships. Likewise, much of our unhappiness and regrets come from broken and failed relationships. Once again, the more self-aware you are, the better daughter, son, brother, sister, friend, or partner you become. You become better at choosing the right relationships for you, and you choose to surround yourself with people who enrich your life.

Adventure and Experiences

Our lives are largely a collection of our experiences. They are what our memories are made of. Our experiences help us build character, develop relationships, and guide the direction of our lives. It is through our experiences that we learn and grow. Some experiences happen to us, and we must choose how to respond, but for the most part, we have the power to choose the experiences that will shape us.

Contribution and Legacy

How will you choose to be remembered? What legacy would you like to leave behind? Much like a stone cast into a pond, your actions create ripples that have far-reaching impacts. What impact are your choices having on the environment? On other people?

“I may be here for a short while, gone tomorrow into oblivion or until the days come to take me away. But, in whatever part you play, be remembered as part of a legacy…of sharing dreams and changing humanity for the better. It’s that legacy that never dies.” ~Author unknown

Who am I?

Yo, Adrienne!

I’m what Barbara Sher would call a “scanner.”
Tia Singh would call me a “sparkler.”
Emilie Wapnick would say I’m a “multipotentialite.”

You might say I’m a regular Jane of All Trades, Master of None.

Some people are good at dancing, riding horses, or  building computers. It’s their thing. For the longest time, I wanted a thing of my own.

I’ve tried many different things in search of my thing. Every time I delve deep into something new, just as I start to get decent at it, something new and more exciting catches my attention, and off I go again!

Finally, a few years ago, I realized my thing is learning and experiencing new things!

However, it’s not just about learning. I have a passion for finding patterns and connections between the different things that I learn.
Beyond that, I truly love connecting with awesome people and sharing experiences and insights with them.

I love feeling like I’m doing something that matters–that I’m making a valuable contribution and enriching others’ lives in some way.

If you’re interested in some of my wanderings, dabblings, areas of exploration, and adventures, check out my experience list.

But truly, at my very core, I am a perpetual student–a wisdom-seeker.

I’m a student of…

    • Physics I earned my bachelor of science in physics from Northern Arizona University in 2006.
    • PsychologyI completed my master’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in leadership development and coaching in 2011 from Walden University.
    • Self-development–with a Dream Manager certification from Floyd consulting in 2009.
    • Outdoor leadership and education–National Outdoor Leadership School Alumni and Wilderness First Air Certified.
    • Military and leadership–After 4.5 years as an officer, I separated honorably from the U.S. Air Force in 2011.
    • Safety and survival–I have current certifications in CPR, AED, and Wilderness First Aid.

In addition, I’m a student of adventure, travel, hiking, and yoga–no special degrees or certifications here, just a passion for what I do.

“To be a teacher in the right sense is to be a learner. I am not a teacher, only a fellow student.” ~Soren Kierkegaard

Finally, one of my favorite pasttimes is getting into philosophical discussions over a great cup of coffee.

If you’re ever interested in one of those discussions, please feel free to get in touch with me! (Visit my contact page.)

I hope you’ll join me as I strive to revel in the magic of the moment, embark on epic adventures, and fully experience the joys of living!

Be wise. Live life! :)

“Live life fully while you’re here. Experience everything.
Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird.
Go out and screw up!
You’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process.
Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes:
find the cause of your problem and eliminate it.
Don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.”
~Anthony Robbins
